Because if we told you everything we know then you would drive off with the information lol - also, by holding something back we engender a mystique.

Seriously, there's enough to be talking about with pin tumblers, dimples, wafers, vids, shiney stuff we have received or picked, as well as your upcoming acting career.

Locksport and autos may share locks but they are completly differnt interests. Same thing with gutting vids and the vids that picky likes to watch. The site/forum is about LOCKSPORT and only locksport.

That said, I will compromise with you - show me a pic of a car in a vice on your kitchen table and I'll tell you how to open it (dinkies/matel don't count)

Nothing to add here. My previous comment was aimed at the lack of etiquette rather than the question itself.

Funny, I've never had to bend over my car. I think Uconf has methods that are NSFW at best.  Lmao!

Ah, that's makes perfect sense. Thanks for enlightening me. I was honestly just curious!

I didn't know if it was due to malicious intents, or if there was some rivalry between lock pickers and auto pickers, lmfao

Now I know, and I couldn't agree more with the rules.

Thanks.

Another point to raise is that we are into this for sport, which is unlikely to involve auto locks.

That, sums it up for me.
I won't be spending my evening, outside in the rain and the dark, bending over my car....

...wait for it....

.....that's my wife's job.

No worries, Shearlock. It's a good question.

Subjects like auto and safe locksmithing are very specialized areas, as well as sensitive ones. They're also not usually subjects that guys new to locksport are going to get into because of the availability of locks to practice on, and the huge expense in tools.

Knowledge of auto locksmithing can also be very attractive to guys with a malicious intent, and to discuss this in an open public forum can lead to accusations. Of course, the same can be said about regular locks, and we watch that aspect by keeping guidelines such as not picking locks in use and not picking a lock that we have no permission to.

Another point to raise is that we are into this for sport, which is unlikely to involve auto locks.

Feel free to ask away, if you need. I'm sure Mark and others will add more.

Just realized someone else asked the same question, and was said to have "questioned" the rules.

To be clear, i am not questioning them. I am purely and sincerely wanting to understand one of them, I'm compulsive and can't stand not knowing something. Lol

I have a question, please understand this is literally for my own curiosity.  I have zero interest in Auto lock stuff, but am curious as to why it's forbidden.  I understand that bypassing is destructive, so that makes sense to me.  I'm just curious about why automobile locks are forbidden subject matter.  I'm asking for my own personal knowledge so that I understand the rules and reasons.

I'm new to the forums, forgive my ignorance if the answer is obvious but has eluded me.
